I don't consider myself a prude about cultural trends. I'm not the type to think the world is coming to an end because some TV show is popular, or because people are doing something to themselves. Now, I'm also not the type to attribute all new weirdness in the world to California, but somehow I'm not shocked that that place is operating in San Diego, although I would have guessed Bay Area.
